Welcome Nicholas Hui, an Honours student under Dr Wallace Wong, and Ezel Ersoy, an MSc student under Dr Wallace Wong.
James was awarded the Best Poster Prize for Symposium II: Emerging Nanophotonic Materials and Devices in the recently concluded MRS Spring 2014 in San Francisco, CA. He was also successful in obtaining a competitive scholarship for overseas travel.
New group members have joined the Holmes Group. Postdoctoral researchers: Dr Yu-Ying Lai and Dr Shirong Lu. Postgraduate students: Mr Paul Geraghty, a PhD student under Dr David Jones and Prof Ken Ghiggino; Mr Quentin Hong, an Honours student under Dr Wallace Wong. We welcome Dr Alexander Colsmann and Dr Christian Kayser from Lichttechnisches Institut in Karlsruhe Institute of Technology. They will be visiting our group for two weeks.
Congratulations to Dr Wallace Wong for being successful in this 2014 ARC Future Fellowship round. Wallace has acquired AU$ 755,320 of funding for his research on self-assembly of conjugated polymer materials.
Francois has finished his 6-month stay in the group working with new polymerization methods for optoelectronic applications. He is going back to Université Laval to continue his research. Good luck Francois!
Bolong got funding to present his research on fullerene derivatives in OzCarbon2013 – a symposium in carbon-based nanotechnology. Well done Bolong!
Prof Andrew Holmes will assume the role of President for four years in the Academy’s next Annual General Meeting in May 2014. Well deserved Andrew! (see full media release by the AAS)
We welcome our two MSc students – Dean Van As and Bolong Zhang; a new PhD student – Valerie Mitchell; and new postdoc – Dr Michael Klein. Dean and Bolong are both working with Dr Wallace Wong on new OPV materials. Valerie will be working with Dr David Jones and Prof Ken Ghiggino on block copolymers.
Dr David Jones will present the progress of printing flexible organic solar cell in Australia in TEDxMelbourne – Untapped. TEDxMelbourne, like TED, is all about ideas worth sharing – sparking conversation, discussion, and connection. Dr Jones will present in Swinburne’s new Advanced Technologies Centre this Sunday (26th May 2013), where the whole TEDxMelbourne event will happen.
